Tracking short-term rental regulations throughout SPAAR’s service area

SPAAR - 02/21/2024

Short-term rental properties like Airbnbs and VRBOs have become incredibly popular in the last decade.

When traveling, many people appreciate the option of staying in a home instead of a hotel or motel room. With a rise in popularity has come a rise in the number of these properties, many of which have provided valuable streams of income for the families and individuals who own them. Following this expansion, local governments began regulating short term rental properties to varying degrees.

Protecting a property owners’ right to rent their property on a short-term basis has been an important part of the Saint Paul Area Association of REALTORS® (SPAAR) advocacy work. With that in mind, SPAAR has put together this resource, which lays out the current state of regulation on these properties in our territory.

Check out this Short Term Rental Regulations in SPAAR's Territory that lays out the current state of regulation on the properties within the SPAAR’s 12-county service area.
