Members spoke. SPAAR listened.
SPAAR’s most recent all-member survey concluded on August 29, 2025, with a strong finish thanks to 883 SPAAR members who shared their feedback and offered suggestions. These voices represent 11% of SPAAR’s total membership, and the themes and ideas shared were taken to heart by SPAAR’s Board of Directors and staff and incorporated into a new strategic plan for 2026 through 2028, which includes core competencies and near-term focus areas.
Hear below from SPAAR CEO Gabe Walsh as he provides an overview of the member survey, and shares about the process for the strategic plan work that will serve as a guide for SPAAR throughout the next three years:
SPAAR nurtures better agents and better communities through its three core competencies, as follows:
Proactive Thinking Culture
SPAAR will enter into a new era of decision making, communications and processes that prioritize proactive member engagement and retention. SPAAR will embrace a world of choice in how real estate professionals choose to engage with the Association. SPAAR will adopt and enhance streamlined digital solutions to better engage and benefit members.
Expanding SPAAR’s Professional Growth Portfolio
SPAAR will maintain strong in-person education opportunities while expanding virtual/live-streamed formats and evaluating accessibility to reach more members. SPAAR will continue to develop education on current and emerging topics and leverage the SPAAR virtual campus. SPAAR will utilize storytelling to show members how professional growth can streamline their work and benefit their businesses.
Sharing the SPAAR Story with Consumers
Consumer-facing education, volunteerism and other initiatives communicate SPAAR’s impact and what it does to support housing opportunities and its communities. SPAAR will expand shareable assets tied to market data and community impacts that educate consumers and clearly communicate the value of the REALTOR® brand.
Connectivity + Belonging
SPAAR will increase member satisfaction and connection across local markets, diverse audiences and the various stakeholders within its entire 12-county service area. By expanding multilingual resources, increasing cultural sensitivity training, elevating education and growing representation in leadership roles, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI+B) will remain essential to professionalism and community impact.
Showcase Value through Storytelling
SPAAR will connect members to business benefits by tying them to professional value, including time saved, transactions supported and dollars protected. SPAAR will share with members and consumers that it is a specific and meaningful choice to be part of the REALTOR® brand, which provides unmatched benefits. SPAAR will demonstrate the success stories of SPAAR’s Advocacy, Community Impact, Professional Growth and Member Experience to showcase REALTORS® as the local market experts.
Leading through Advocacy
SPAAR will be the regional leader in local housing advocacy. SPAAR will advocate on behalf of members by building and growing relationships with elected officials, city and county staff, and other housing stakeholders in its region. By utilizing REALTOR® expertise and SPAAR’s robust housing market data, SPAAR will remain a vital resource for cities and counties as they consider their impact on property rights, housing and the real estate industry. Programs and events will elevate and enhance SPAAR’s standing as the regional leader in housing and private property rights.
