Erica Brodd named SPAAR Affiliate of the Month

Erica Brodd has been networking and learning alongside fellow professionals at SPAAR and within the real estate industry since starting her career in insurance 20 years ago. Over the years, she’s been involved in planning and executing many events, participating in volunteer activities, and serving on the SPAAR Board of Directors.

Today, Erica remains involved as vice chair of the Affiliate Committee and a member of the Communications Committee. She also serves as president of SPAAR Toastmasters, which began in 2019 and is an official chapter of Toastmasters, International.

Her involvement with SPAAR has broadened her professional network and, as an insurance expert, she’s been able to share her expertise with Realtors® and Affiliates who seek to know the latest insurance news.

"Homeowners insurance in Minnesota has changed drastically in the past few years,” said Erica, who enjoys helping Realtors® be informed so they can pass along timely information. “It’s important to have your buyers get insurance quotes early in the process, and it’s also a good idea to refer them to an agent who can shop multiple companies as pricing and underwriting can vary. Referring clients to an agent can save them time and stress rather than going online to get quotes.”

When Erica isn’t working, she loves attending her two sons' sporting events as well as meeting up with friends, co-workers and clients for lunch, and has a few favorite places to go.

“There are so many incredible restaurants around the Saint Paul metro area including Brunson’s Pub (St. Paul); Bella Ciao (Mahtomedi); and Cabin 61 and Washington Square (both in White Bear Lake), and I could go on! A favorite locale to meet with co-workers is D-Spot in Oakdale where they have the best chicken wings,” said Erica, who added she enjoys a good meal with good camaraderie.

And camaraderie is one of the reasons Erica stays involved at SPAAR.

“Serving on committees has been the most valuable benefit for me, as it provides an opportunity to work in small groups and help make things happen at SPAAR,” said Erica. When she isn’t working or volunteering, she likes to slow down, stay home and relax. "And, if it’s a rainy weekend day or I have a free morning, I’ll happily curl up with a good book and a cup of coffee.”
