Volunteers sought: financial literacy consultant and personal finance instructor

SPAAR - 03/29/2024

What’s the key to building better homeowners? Help young people learn the skills they need to manage their personal finances.

The Minnesota Council on Economic Education (MCEE) promotes financial literacy through education. MCEE is developing Minnesota’s new financial literacy curriculum, which will be required in MN high schools beginning in 2026.

REALTORS® Charitable Foundation awarded a grant to MCEE in 2023 to support its programs that help prepare students to manage their personal finances.

MCEE is seeking volunteers for upcoming events and to help develop statewide curriculum. Training provided for the following opportunities:

State Personal Finance Decathlon competition: Serve as a judge for the event at Securian in downtown Saint Paul on Thursday, April 25.

College Dollars and Sense summer youth personal finance institute: Serve as either a facilitator of breakout groups, a guest speaker or mentor, virtually, the week of June 24-28.

MCEE Educator Certification: High School Personal Finance: Join in an industry networking event(s) with the teachers to offer expertise on the homeownership decision, in-person, June 24-27. This is the new teacher training course in support of the new high school personal finance course requirement.
