Toys for Joy resulted in great success for Anoka County

SPAAR - 01/06/2023

Toys for Joy held its annual community event in December with great success.

“This year the community really stepped up with cash and toy donations like never before,” said Mike Hunstad, SPAAR member and president of Toys for Joy. “Without the assistance of this great community we are in, we would not be able to serve as many families and kids as we do.”

Toys for Joy’s 2022 event served almost 1,200 families and nearly 4,000 kids with food, toys, bikes, wreaths and more.

The event took place at the Anoka Armory and more than 2,000 volunteer hours were logged during the week of setup and distribution.

Toys for Joy was founded in 1986. The program assists families in Anoka County that are in need during the holiday season who may otherwise be unable to provide gifts and meals to their children
