Steve Hyland is a SPAAR Hero!

SPAAR - 09/23/2024

High-speed ahead seems to be synonymous with SPAAR Hero Steve Hyland whose life moves forward in rapid succession. Whether he’s out for a run and training for a marathon or getting ready to attend his next Indianapolis 500, which will mark number 60 this year having attended these races annually since childhood, Steve is on the go. When he’s not running or watching a race, Steve is busy in his job at Keller Williams, and of note was instrumental as part of a nine-person team to bring the first Keller Williams franchise to Minnesota; Steve works in the Roseville location.

Steve had a degree in criminology when he joined the Army and met someone who told him, regarding real estate, “You would be really good at this.” Fast forward to the start of Steve’s real estate career and a successful journey that Steve attributes to Dan Dolan who he says changed his life. Steve’s parents died when he was young, and Dan became his mentor; they worked together in an all-glass real estate office within St. Paul’s new downtown skyway when Steve was just 23 and new to the business. That office grew quickly and was eventually purchased by Edina Realty, where Steve would serve as both a regional manager and training manager.

Today, two of Steve’s passions are supporting the St. Paul Fire Foundation and the Tunnel to Towers. The St. Paul Fire Foundation raises money for items when budget falls short, including pillows, mattresses and bedding; food and cooking utensils; and even bulletproof vests for first responders. The Tunnel to Towers collects money to families of those who lost someone in the 9/11 attacks in New York City and has funded initiatives such as buying hotels to turn into free housing for veterans.

“Being a part of these organizations that offer so much support to those who are hurting or in need is rewarding,” said Steve, who says among his biggest passions is being a dad. Two of Steve’s four children are also Realtors®. Steve’s volunteer involvement has also included past president of the Minnesota Irish Fair; past president of the East Side Area Business Association; senior instructor at Prosource; real estate instructor at the University of Minnesota; and, in 2007, he served as SPAAR president.

Congratulations, Steve, on being named a SPAAR Hero!
