SPAAR and MAR merger vote update

Last week SPAAR sent out communications about a merger vote update with some background for context. On August 13, the SPAAR and MAR Boards unanimously recommended the joining of our associations. Over the past five weeks both associations have held a series of listening and information sessions, and your input has been helpful as we seek to build the new entity for the future.

As the associations move forward, the parties are engaging in a robust due diligence process.

Here’s the current status:

• The SPAAR and MAR legal teams have requested additional time to prepare the final transactional and structural documents for the new entity, ensuring it is set up for long-term success.
• The all-member vote that has been scheduled for September 29-October 2 has been postponed.

Members will continue to be updated via the website and will receive communications about the new voting period, which is expected will still take place later this year. The original effective merger date of January 1, 2027, remains the goal.

Over the past five weeks, the feedback from the information sessions and stakeholders alike has been overwhelmingly positive. The SPAAR and MAR Boards of Directors appreciate the constructive and informative feedback on how to integrate the cultural and operational differences across these 100+ year-old organizations.
