Congratulations! Grant Thompson is SPAAR Hero

SPAAR - 06/17/2024

Sometimes it’s all in the timing. That was the case for Grant Thompson, SPAAR’s most recent SPAAR Hero. Grant worked for years as an MRI technician in the radiology field and also at a medical device company helping to develop and implement MRI technology. Then Covid came and with that some life transitions. Among them, he no longer worked in the medical field and he got married.

Grant bought a house to rehab and, throughout the fall of 2020 and the start of 2021, the project kept him busy. During that timeframe, Shawn Korby suggested that Grant consider becoming a Realtor®. Fast forward to the summer of 2021; Grant completed the coursework, became a Realtor® and joined The Korby Home Team with Keller Williams Integrity Realty.

Throughout the turn of events in Grant’s life, one thing remained consistent: his commitment to volunteerism.

“I was brought up in a family that just did things for people, so volunteering has always been an easy yes,” said Grant, who earned the SPAAR Hero nomination for his work with Hope Kids Minnesota, which provides events, activities and support for families who have a child with cancer or a life-threatening medical condition. “Volunteering doesn’t always have to be a giant action.”

If fact, Grant combines his interests in volunteering for Hope Kids and participating in Relentless Minnesota (search Grant Thompson to support him directly); the latter where strongman participants, like Grant, raise money by lifting insane amounts of weight in honor of the most fragile who cannot. A win-win. Grant’s volunteer work has paid off in his real estate business.

“I see an impact on my business in the clients I attract,” said Grant, who lives in Roseville with his wife and two dogs. “Word of mouth goes around. I often get referred based on my philanthropic giving rather than my real estate-based topics.”

Grant’s commitments to real estate and volunteering allow him to excel in both areas and provide his clients with the best experiences possible.

Congratulations, Grant, on being named SPAAR Hero!

SPAAR Hero is a program of SPAAR’s Community Engagement Committee, sponsored by SPAAR’s REALTORS® Charitable Foundation. Members of SPAAR’s Communications Committee interview and write the SPAAR Hero articles, including this interview by Erica Brodd.

As part of the SPAAR Hero program, a $250 donation is made in the SPAAR Heroes names to their charity of choice.
