Burnsville’s Downpayment Assistance Loan Program launched on May 1
SPAAR - 04/27/2026
The City of Burnsville launched its new Downpayment Assistance Loan Program on May 1, 2026, for individuals and families who qualify for and are interested in purchasing a home in its community. Under this program, Burnsville will fund up to 10% of the home purchase price (half of a traditional 20% downpayment) through these loans. The loan is completely forgiven if the homeowner remains in the property for 30 years. Repayment, including a small amount of interest, is only required if the owner chooses to sell the home earlier. This program is funded by Local Affordable Housing Aid, a 0.25% metro sales tax created by the Minnesota legislature, and these dollars must be spent on a community’s housing affordability needs.
If you are aware of an individual or family who might be interested in participating in this program, direct them to the Burnsville website for more information.
