August 2024 Advocacy Report

Here is your advocacy update for the month of August! The Saint Paul Area Association of Realtors® Advocacy Report goes out each month and is your one-stop-shop for everything related to Government Affairs throughout SPAAR's jurisdiction.

The Advocacy Report goings out to the entirety of SPAAR's membership. The Report go out monthly. If you're not receiving the advocacy report and would like to, email spaar@spaar.com.

SPAAR's Candidate Endorsement

SPAAR has begun its 2024 candidate endorsement process, and the advocacy team is looking for volunteers for candidate interviews taking place in mid-September.

Volunteers will have the opportunity to meet and interview candidates who keep Realtor® interests in mind during their tenure in local elected offices. Contact SPAAR’s government affairs directors Becky Wegscheid or Simon Opatz with questions or to volunteer.

SPAAR's Housing Resource Fair

Join SPAAR for a special event to meet and connect with local housing-related nonprofits! Learn about their inspiring missions, the impactful work they're doing, and the valuable resources and programs they offer for Realtors®, their clients, and fellow community members.

This event presents a fantastic opportunity to get acquainted with the wonderful initiatives led by these nonprofit organizations. This event is open to all Realtors® and community members eager to play an active role in promoting housing opportunities and enriching our community.

The Housing Resource Fair will be held on Thursday, October 3 from 2 pm-4 pm at SPAAR's office, 325 Roselawn Ave E, Saint Paul, MN 55117.

The GADs Recommend

The Great Minnesota Get-Together officially starts tomorrow, Thursday, August 22 at 7 am! SPAAR's government affairs directors, Simon Opatz and Becky Wegscheid, have you covered on new foods to try out. Let us know which foods and drinks you like best!

Dill Pickle Tots

Fried tater tots tossed in dill seasoning with a hint of vinegar flavor – like a dill pickle potato chip!

Sweet Heat Bacon Crunch

Double-smoked slab bacon tossed in RC's red barbecue sauce and topped with hot honey & chili crunch, served over a bed of white rice, and garnished with green onions.

Wrangler Waffle Burger

Fresh all-beef patty and signature Whataburger® Patty Melt Sauce layered with American cheese and served in a caramelized onion-infused Nordic Waffle.

PB Bacon Cakes

Thick-cut bacon dipped in pancake batter, griddled, and topped with peanut butter whipped cream, grape jelly, and banana chips.

Deep Fried Ranch

Ranch dressing filling made with ranch seasoning, buttermilk, and cream cheese in panko shell, deep-fried and dusted with ranch powder. Served with a side of hot honey sauce crafted with Cry Baby Craig's hot sauce.
