Sonya Fox is named a SPAAR Hero
SPAAR - 12/13/2024
All aboard! The CPKC Holiday Train has had a presence chugging through Minnesota for many years. The train itself is the combination of two historic railways – Canadian Pacific (CP) and Kansas City Southern (KCS), with stops throughout Canada and the US, including Cottage Grove, where Sonya Fox is an owner of RE/MAX Professionals.
Sonya is instrumental with the CPKC Holiday Train and co-chairs the Cottage Grove Stop Committee. The event is a major fundraiser for the Friends in Need Food Shelf, which is a nonprofit serving the communities of Cottage Grove, Newport, St. Paul Park and Grey Cloud Island.
In fact, Cottage Grove is one of the largest stops on the Holiday Train tour where they typically attract anywhere from 8,000 to 10,000 attendees.
The 2024 CPKC Holiday Train has been touring Canada and the US since November 21 and will continue through December 20 while raising money, food and awareness to support food banks across its network.
The tour is festive as professional musicians play free concerts from the brightly decorated train's stage. CPKC donates to the local food bank at each stop and encourages all attendees to make a monetary or heart-healthy food donation.
Since its inaugural journey in 1999, the CPKC Holiday Train has raised more than $24.3 million and collected approximately 5.3 million pounds of food community food banks in Canada and the US.
Congratulations, Sonya, on being named a SPAAR Hero! The SPAAR Hero program is a part of SPAAR’s Community Engagement Committee, sponsored by SPAAR’s REALTORS® Charitable Foundation. SPAAR Hero articles are written by members of SPAAR’s Communications Committee.
