Speaker Event: Shane Phillips, Author of ‘The Affordable City’

SPAAR - 04/20/2022

SPAAR is hosting Shane Phillips, author of The Affordable City on Tuesday, May 10, at 6pm via Zoom.

His book, The Affordable City, argues for a multipronged approach to housing that addresses housing supply, stability, and subsidies. Shane has written for the Los Angeles Times, Atlantic, and other local and national outlets, and occasionally publishes at his blog, Better Institutions (betterinstitutions.com).

Interested SPAAR members have been participating in a book club discussing The Affordable City since April 7.

Shane Phillips manages the UCLA Lewis Center Housing Initiative, where he develops research, policy analysis and educational materials to improve the public's understanding of housing markets and policies. He co-hosts the UCLA Housing Voice Podcast, and previously taught as an adjunct instructor at USC and worked as policy director for Central City Association, a downtown LA advocacy organization.
