SPAAR’s housing-focused book club is back!
SPAAR - 09/19/2025
Join SPAAR members and staff as they read Abundance, the new book by New York Times columnist Ezra Klein, and former columnist at The Atlantic, Derek Thompson.
Abundance explains that the problems today are not the results of yesteryear’s villains. Rather, one generation’s solutions have become the next generation’s problems. Rules and regulations designed to solve the problems of the 1970s often prevent urban-density and green-energy projects that would help solve the problems of the 2020s. Laws meant to ensure that government considers the consequences of its actions have made it too difficult for government to act consequentially. In the last few decades, the capacity to see problems has sharpened while the ability to solve them has diminished.
Join SPAAR to dive into this popular, discourse-driving book on how to make America a place of abundance again. The first book club meeting will take place on Thursday, October 9, at 8am via Zoom and will continue to meet each Thursday morning at 8am via Zoom through November 13.
Reach out to SPAAR government affairs director, Simon Opatz (sopatz@spaar.com) to participate.
