Pack the bus drive delivered to two nonprofits serving children and families throughout SPAAR’s service area

SPAAR - 09/01/2022

SPAAR members completed a successful drive to collect backpacks and school supplies.

Coordinated by your Community Engagement Committee, donated supplies were delivered to two nonprofits serving children and families throughout SPAAR’s service area.

Wilder Foundation, based in St. Paul, received more than 500 spiral (SPAAR-al?) notebooks for distribution to children through Wilder’s before- and after-school programs.  Laura Brown, who works with Wilder’s Development Team, said, “We ran out of notebooks!  The need is great, and kids can use these!”  Amy Peterson, 2022 Chair of SPAAR’s Community Engagement Committee, delivered notebooks to Wilder’s facility on Lexington Parkway in St. Paul.  Above the door is Wilder’s slogan: Here for Good.

Alight: Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (wearealight.org) will provide more than fifty fully stocked backpacks to refugee families who arrived in Minnesota in the last year.  (photo: Staff from Alight receiving backpacks at the organization’s warehouse in Brooklyn Park).  “Clients come in and ask if we have backpacks for their children so they can be just like the other kids, said Kathleen, Alight’s warehouse manager.

Thank you for your office collections and individual contributions.
