Annual news conference tells housing story in Twin Cities and throughout Minnesota

SPAAR - 02/03/2025

SPAAR held its annual housing market news conference in conjunction with Minneapolis Area REALTORS® and Minnesota Realtors® on January 28 at the Twin Cities Habitat for Humanity.

SPAAR President Jennifer Livingston, MAR President Frank D'Angelo and MNR President Patti Jo Fitzpatrick provided a 2024 overview of the market that most months echoed low inventory and higher prices and mortgage rates, explaining the many factors that create these results. In addition, they offered some projections for 2025 including that the outlook hinges largely on the interest rate environment which depends on inflation, the economy, the Fed and the bond market. In addition, other factors include how many units builders are able to produce, inbound vs. outbound migration, snowbirds and baby boomers deciding to sell and other factors, to name a few, in hopes of a healthier market in 2025 where more buyers and sellers can achieve their real estate goals. See the full news release here.

A number of Twin Cities media attended the news conference and ran stories, including: Axios, Finance & Commerce, Minnesota Public Radio (MPR), Pioneer Press, KARE-TV (Ch 11), KMSP-TV (Ch 9), KSTP-TV (Ch 5) and St. Paul Publishing (St. Paul Voice and La Voz Latina). A total of 43 stories were shared through media outlets in the Twin Cities and throughout Greater Minnesota via their affiliates. Here's a link to the KSTP-TV (Ch 5) story that first aired on January 28.
